Wave Turbulence

چکیده
In this article, we state and review the premises on which a successful asymptotic closure of the moment equations of wave turbulence is based, describe how and why this closure obtains, and examine the nature of solutions of the kinetic equation. We discuss obstacles that limit the theory’s validity and suggest how the theory might then be modified. We also compare the experimental evidence with the theory’s predictions in a range of applications. Finally, and most importantly, we suggest open challenges and encourage the reader to apply and explore wave turbulence with confidence. The narrative is terse but, we hope, delivered at a speed more akin to the crisp pace of a Hemingway story than the wordjumblingtumbling rate of a Joycean novel. 59 A nn u. R ev . Evaluation of Turbulence on the Dynamics of Monopile Offshore Wind Turbine under the Wave and Wind Excitations
In recent years, the use of offshore wind turbines has been considered on the agenda of the countries which have a significant maritime boundary due to more speed and stability of wind at sea. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of wind turbulence on the aero-hydrodynamic behavior of offshore wind turbines with a monopile platform. Since in the sea, the wind turbine structures ar...

In this article, a numerical meshless method called Weakly Compressible Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamic (WCSPH) is used to simulate the solitary wave breaking process on the beach. The present model is a two dimensional model that considers the fluid weakly compressibility. This model solves the viscous fluid equations to obtain velocity field and density and solves the equation of state to obta...
متن کاملImproving Simulations of the Upper Ocean by Inclusion of Surface Waves in the Mellor-Yamada Turbulence Scheme
[1] The Mellor‐Yamada turbulence closure scheme, used in many ocean circulation models, is often blamed for overly high simulated surface temperature and overly low simulated subsurface temperature in summer due to insufficient vertical mixing. Surface waves can enhance turbulence kinetic energy and mixing of the upper ocean via wave breaking and nonbreaking‐wave‐turbulence interaction. The inf...
متن کاملOn the generation and maintenance of waves and turbulence in simulations of free-surface turbulence
One of the challenges in numerical simulation of wave–turbulence interaction is the precise setup and maintenance of wave and turbulence fields. In this paper, we investigate techniques for the generation and suppression of specific surface wave modes, the generation of turbulence in an inhomogeneous physical domain with a wavy boundary-fitted grid, and the generation and maintenance of waves a...
متن کاملSpace-Time-Resolved Capillary Wave Turbulence
We report experiments on the full space and time resolved statistics of capillary wave turbulence at the air-water interface. The three-dimensional shape of the free interface is measured as a function of time by using the optical method of Diffusing Light Photography associated with a fast camera. Linear and nonlinear dispersion relations are extracted from the spatio-temporal power spectrum o...

Moving Particle Semi-implicit (MPS) which is a meshless and full Lagrangian method is employed to simulate nonlinear hydrodynamic behavior in a wide variety of engineering application including free surface water waves. In the present study, a numerical particle-based model is developed by the authors using MPS method to simulate different wave problems in the coastal waters. In this model flui...
